Kingston, Ontario
We took a walking tour of downtown Kingston this afternoon. A number of buildings we saw were over 200 years old. A cruise up the Rideau Waterway is planned for the next 2-3 days.

New suit of threads...
Except for rain flaps at the deck level of the new side curtains, packing provisions for 2 weeks, and a couple of other odds and ends, Buddy is ready to hit the road. We'll remove the cockpit enclosure prior to leaving for points East on Weds. The trailering bra we made last fall is on for the haul.Published with Blogger-droid v1.7.4

Two piece band...
Actually, the horn on Buddy died. I found a new AFI horn through Amazon.com that is a pretty close match (the price was right). Such beautiful music...

First Summer 2011 "Cruise"

This weekend we took an overnight trip to Menominee Michigan for the "Spring Splash" party at M&MYC where we are members. It's a short 20 KM ride across Green Bay from our house in Door County, WI. The weather wasn't the best but it doesn't really matter when you have a Rosborough. It rained on the way over and was pea soup fog on the way back. As we got into Sturgeon Bay the fog lifted as we passed Sherwood Point Light.

Sweetwater!!!
Buddy's back in action. A balmy 50 degrees today. The swans are migrating North. Weather is 15 degrees below normal for this time of year. It's a good thing Buddy has a furnace...

The HUSTLE...

Buddy gets a stable mate! We hauled Buddy 1,800 miles in three days, getting home on March 18. Buddy was back in the barn the next day. The snow had all melted. On March 23rd winter returned, giving us 15" of snow... Friday I headed to Memphis to pick up the "Hustle", returning the next day, another 1600 miles. I am really looking forward to receiving the fuel bill for this month...

Dock Neighbors

Last evening most of the boat people were hanging around at the dock. We went for our last happy hour dinner at Hog Heaven and then joined them. Brenda and company were on the roof of her houseboat and we were below. Tonight a pot luck in the pavilion is planned. Tomorrow we haul out and head for home. Yesterday we took a ride out to the sand bar and then dropped a hook off the marina so I could dive on the boat and scrub the bottom. I just had to verify that I'm not getting any younger...

Hotdog!!!!
Brian is busy today... We just had to take a run to the Sandbar to check out Brian's business before we haul out and head for home this week. Seems to be a popular spot. We prefer Wisconsin brats, but we tried a few of Brian's hotdogs anyway...

Man overboard!!!
It had to happen sooner or later... Brian's (hotdog man) brother showed up last night for a brief visit. While boarding the "hotel" with his luggage in hand, over he went... You can see his footprints in the muck. Fortunately Brian advise him to walk ashore rather than use Buddy to get out of the water. We slept through it all...

Wiped!!!
Replaced the wiper today. On boats, it seems nothing is ever simple... The new replacement wipe arm didn't quite fit. The inside diameter of the arm attachment was a bit smaller than the drive. So.. I removed the riveted end fitting that accepts wipers that can no longer be purchased, (that's a good thing as it was a poor design that made for a rather floppy wiper) drilled it out and screwed the new end on. It works!!!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...
Back home it doesn't look like winter is letting up. Cath and I will be headed home next week. This satellite photo of Lake Michigan was taken a week ago on March 2nd. The snow cover begins at Wind Point (Racine, WI). You will note most of Green Bay was still ice covered...
Murphy's law....
...seems to have impacted more of our dockmates. After cranking on Mike's "electric" winch, I'm glad Buddy's trailer has a nice two-speed manual winch. Mike and Kay Ann are hauling out to replace a leaking outdrive boot. Boats...

And they're off!
Pam, Tom, and the Tonic head home. Fair Winds until we meet again! Perhaps the Georgian Bay this August?
