A mounting issue...

I recently had the outboards serviced on our Buddy. When I took the boat to the service yard, the owner's first observation was that the engines were mounted too low. He suggested raising them from the factory setting at least 2 inches higher saying the boat would be faster with better fuel economy. Naturally, I said do it. I am happy to report, after relaunching Buddy, the boat is indeed faster. There is less spray coming from the outboards and there are no cavitation issues. Also the trim tabs control boat trim better. We will wait to see if there are any differences in fuel economy. The following photos show the engines after they were raised on the Armstrong engine mounts.
